TOMAS OLIVA Sr.

Artist Statement

" After all, before and always artist must express with all the violence that emotion demands, with the matter it self as a bridle, balancing it with the reason. I believe that only the exact proportion of emotion, matter and reason, may give birth to a master piece of art. "

Tomás Oliva (1957)

"To me art is art, and sculpture is sculpture, independently of what they stand for (. . .)
